4 good ways to work
Regular HR Hound readers know I like good ways to think about work. Below are four good ways to make your work more productive... GOOD ART:
Look around you right now. Do you see art? Paintings, music, literature, or dance, etc. Does what you see make you happy? Or is it some lame office wallpaper that sucks the life out of you?
Is it art that you would take with you anywhere? Maybe put it in your luggage, brief case or purse and travel across the world with it...
You can choose your art. What I see as good art, might not be what you see as good art. Good art is in the eye of audience, not the artist. Pick art that your audience believes is good.
Work like an artist. Children create art as if they are the best artists in the world. It's amazing what people can do when they have confidence in their art game. If you have confidence, you have talent. A child will confidently give you their art to take with you for the rest of your life. Work on your art game like a child artist.
Good practice is good play. If you can play, you can practice and you can enjoy your work. Enjoying your work can take work.
Each day is a chance to practice on your work practice. Right now I am practicing my writing practice with you. It is fun work to me.
Work on your practice. It will make you good at your practice.
That ole saying, "Once you stop dreaming, you start dying" makes sense. I dream, I get excited. Every. Time.
But a dream without a plan is a wet dream at best. You can't dream your way to retirement to Florida with no plan.
A dream with a plan is good and a dream with a plan and back-up plan is a great dream to pursue.
Chase the dream, until you live the dream. Then chase it more. Let the dream get bigger and better with time. Good dreaming is good for your work.
Good reality is being you. Be real. Be human. Be yourself. Be good to others and help them do their work good.
Have a good weekend. I will be camping somewhere in the Grand Tetons this weekend.
Good art, good practice, good dreaming and good reality. Four good ways to work.
PS-Read good books too.
