What Would You Do If You Were Not Afraid?
This past week I had coffee with Talent Pro, Jason Lauritsen. A kick A#$ dude from Omaha. We were bouncing around ideas and during our conversation he asks me," What Would You Do If You Were Not Afraid?" Think about that for a sec. I had to at least. If I were not afraid, I would... Write my purpose and vision on my wall in BIG Font. That's the easy part. If I were not afraid, I would be so transparent that people could see my sins, successes, failures and happy or sad thoughts. I would listen to every word of every person and have great dialogue with them. I would hold myself accountable for tasks only if they were aligned with my purpose and vision. I would say YES or NO to work based on how it aligned to my purpose and vision. I would have a perspective and get a perspective from people closest to the work. Clueless power hungry people not allowed. Lastly, I would be more fair, reflect and evaluate more often.
I am not afraid, but I need to do more.
What Would You Do If You Were Not Afraid? It's called the power question and Jason credits Traci Fenton, who started WorldBlu. WorldBlu is a global network of people committed to practicing freedom in the workplace and their vision is to see 1 billion people working in free and democratic workplaces. I think we are going to hear more about WorldBlu.
C-suites and secret handshakes, steering committees, and top leaders with all the answers. They make you afraid. They make the decisions. You just do. Do your job without being afraid. It is your job to figure that out. Let me ask you. What Would You Do If You Were Not Afraid?...
